I am learning to walk this walk. It has just been within the last two years I have developed myself as an artist. My youngest son inspired me to pursue my love for creating. He asked to enroll in art classes at a local art gallery. Listening to him talk about art and seeing his work beckoned my heart. I was envious of his enthusiasm. I realized then I must paint.
I was raised in a rural community in southwest Kansas. My paintings are an expression of the quiet beauty I was raised in, as well as the serenity I continuously strive for every day.
Presently, my medium of choice is acrylic. My images are close-up. I prefer a few blooms as opposed to a field of blooms. The process of my paintings begins with an underpainting before I do a pass of color. I am primarily self taught. However, a significant influence in my pursuit of this art dream is Jacqueline Coates. Through her class I gained confidence, insight, and developed my style through her 7 step process.
